Our commitment
Bare exists to help couples have honest, vulnerable conversations. That only works if you trust that your words are private. We designed Bare's architecture around this principle — privacy isn't a feature we added, it's how the system works.
What we collect
We collect only what's necessary to provide the service:
- Account information — email address and display name for authentication
- Conversation data — messages exchanged during sessions, processed in real-time by our AI to generate reflections
- Session summaries — key themes and action items generated at the end of each conversation
- Waitlist emails — if you join our waitlist, we store your email address to notify you when access is available
What happens to your messages
Raw conversation messages are deleted after your session summary is generated. This is enforced by our system architecture, not just a policy. What remains is the insight — key themes and action items — not the transcript of what you said.
How we use your data
- To provide AI reflections during your conversations
- To generate session summaries
- To authenticate your account
- To send you waitlist updates (if you signed up)
We do not sell your data. We do not use your conversations to train AI models. We do not show you ads.
Third-party services
Bare uses the following services to operate:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication and database for the iOS app
- Formspree — used by this website to deliver waitlist signups and contact-form messages to our team. Submissions are subject to Formspree's privacy policy
- OpenAI — AI reflections are generated via API calls; messages are sent for processing and are subject to OpenAI's API data usage policy, which states that API inputs are not used for training
Data retention
- Raw messages: deleted after session summary generation
- Session summaries: retained until you delete your account
- Account data: retained until you delete your account
- Waitlist emails: retained until you unsubscribe or the waitlist closes
